Hello! Friday morning, we set our alarms for around 5:30am. We got up and showered and headed to school so we could start our trip! We boarded 2 coaches and got ready for the next few days. Soon as I put my earbuds in, I passed out.
Before I knew it we were at the rest stop and 2 buses worth of college kids unloaded and bought food, coffee and made a quick trip to the bathroom. We got back on the buses and headed towards our first stop, Avebury. We saw some historic stone circles and walked all over. Unlike Stonehenge (which I'll mention later), you were able to get up close and personal with these rocks so everyone got tons of pictures against them and on them. It was a little chilly, but an absolutely beautiful morning.

goofy r00mayz.
After we left Avebury, we headed to Glastonbury. We went on a tour of the Abbey and our tour guide Matilda gave us a look into what life was like way back in the day. Unfortunately, it started raining so we were a little cold and cranky. I wasn't listening as closely as I should have been, but for those of you who know me, when I am cold and cranky, I am not interested in why King Arthur's grave site was moved closer to the High altar hahah. When I asked the significance of the Abbey, Chelsea gave me the answer that "jesus was here or something" lol.
Matilda, our tour guide. She blew her nose in her skirt and I guess happened to catch my less than subtle face of disgust. She called me out on it.

After we toured the Abbey, we hiked up to the Tor. After walking for what seemed like forever, we finally arrived. The climb up was a little scary because the stairs are slippery when it's raining and they were pretty narrow. The Tor is the home of Gwyn ap Nudd, the god of the underworld and king of the fairies. In the early 400s, it was a retreat for monks. An earthquake destroyed it and now the tower that stands today was rebuilt in the 1300s. The views were remarkable.
on our way to the top!
After that, the skies opened up again and started pouring. We finally made it back to the buses at the Abbey and headed for Wells. We went inside the Wells Cathedral and it was beautiful. I've always been a fan of churches and mosques and the intricate details of the architecture and artwork. The details on each archway and the walls and the ceilings were absolutely breathtaking.
This was our last stop before heading to Bath for the night. We arrived and it was not what I expected at all. I was expecting a small town, similar to the towns we had visited earlier in the day, but it wasn't. It was larger buildings with beautiful architecture. We got to the hostel and had a room with 10 girls in it. Luckily, we knew everyone so it wasn't creepy or anything. Chelsea, Alex, Alyssa, Michael and I headed out to get some grub at one of the local pubs. We went into one we thought was cute and it appeared that so did many other Ithaca students. We knew almost everyone there. We ordered some food and some pints and then had a great night just chit chatting and telling stories. It was really relaxed and exactly what we needed after a long day. We then headed back to the hostel and decided it was time to hit the hay.
We woke up around 8 the following morning for breakfast and then we headed out to see the Roman baths. It was early, but it was so interesting. We had the chance to do the audio tour. I didn't listen to everything, but I listened to all the ones I was interested in. We then went on a walking tour with Bill, but once we got to the Fashion Museum, we went in. We had such a ball. After that we went and grabbed some lunch. I had a pizza bagel and a vanilla milkshake from a small little shop on one of the streets and then we loaded back up and headed to Stonehenge.
Stonehenge. I did a project on Stonehenge in 7th grade so it was crazy to see it in real life. The stones were huge and of course we took all the cliche pictures which I'll include. There is literally NOTHING around Stonehenge but fields. Like it's nothing for miles and miles and then BAM, ROCKS. It was freezing so we thought spending an hour there would be much too long, but it got slightly warmer and we spent the time taking goofy pictures.
For some reason, I can't seem to load the pictures anymore, so if you want to see my album on facebook, click this link! Bath Trip Pictures!
That night, I was pretty tired, but hey! I'm in London and it's Saturday. I went to the Picadilly Institute with some of the people who live upstairs and saw a whole bunch of people we knew there! That club is crazy cool, but very, very expensive.
I hope life in the good ol U.S is going wonderfully and I miss you all!
Lots and lots of love,
Paige Xx
