Relating to the title of this post, it appears that I have found him. I have found my perfect man. And when I say I found him, I mean, I FOUND HIM. Ok, maybe I didn't find him. Maybe he got on the same rush hour packed tube as me. And ok, yea maybe I don't know his name. Alright... I didn't even talk to him. But we made some meaningful eye contact and that is enough for me. Hahah that is how I started off my day yesterday, it was a rather slight glimmer of sunshine on my otherwise gloomy morning.
I headed off on my 2 hour commute to my internship and discovered it was raining. I was not exactly a happy camper. Once I got there, I wrote an invitation for an event we are throwing to learn how to play the "steel pan." I also created a number of crossword puzzles to insert into the booklets we are mailing out. I think the toughest part was trying to find a website where I didn't have to sign up to create one. I then learned how to mail merge. My supervisor was pretty busy, so I did some playing around with it and figured out how to do it! I then set up the layout for a press release. I actually had some things to do all day.
I headed home around 4:30. Alex, Chelsea and I all arrived home around the same time. We headed off to Waitrose to get some food because Chelsea and I decided we were going to make stuffed French Toast for dinner. It turns out we didn't have vanilla or powdered sugar, but we made due and it turned out to be some regular french toast with some nomworthy drizzle on top. It was delicious (and no it was not just because I was starving, it was actually really good!)
Today I started my second week of classes. I panicked a little when I got to the tube because there were a number of delays. I think it is safe to say that I finally have mastered the tube. I took a slightly different route than normal, but I did it! All by myself! I know, you're all so proud of me. The queen of directional incompetence has mastered the tube.
I had British Pop at 10:15 this morning. We watched and discussed a BBC program about the origins of British Pop. It was actually really interesting, although I was exhausted. I don't know that I'm ever going to get used to a 3 hour class, but at least the topics are different than what I normally learn.
Tonight, we're headed to a pub to watch some "footie" with some local friends. I'm pretty pumped. The phrase "going to a pub" just doesn't seem to ever get old, especially when I'm in London. I have 6 hours of class tomorrow so it's a good thing the place closed at 11 pm. Everyone seems to lose track of time here.
Friday, we have to be at the London Center at 7:00 AM. IS THAT A JOKE. I can't even believe that I'm going to have to get up and ready for the day that early. We have a full day scheduled on the itinerary so I gotta be up and ready to be a tourist! Although, we're going to Bath so that should be really exciting. We're traveling there by bus and we're staying in a hostel on Friday night. We'll be back Saturday evening so it will definitely be a whirlwind trip! I'll be sure to remember my camera this time!
Lots of Love from Europe,
Paige Xx
