Weekend Getaway to Prague

Hello Again,

When I was in London, I got to visit tons of awesome places in Europe. That being said, that trip made my Wanderlust Wish List even longer! One of the cities I had been dying to experience was Prague. I had seen pictures and heard the city was gorgeous and the exchange rate was even better! Court and I decided this place was next on our list. We booked our flights and the hostel and headed off for a weekend in The Czech Republic!

Our flight was in the afternoon so we got to start off our journey with a toast to our experience at the airport. There's something so satisfying about a glass of wine as you're waiting for a flight!

We landed in Prague around 5pm and jumped in a taxi. We arrived at our hostel, settled in and got ready for the evening. We found a delicious Italian restaurant very close to our hostel. The food was delicious and set the tone for the trip meaning that every meal was to include good food, good wine and always always always dessert.

We joined a pub crawl that was meant to be one of the best rated and let me tell ya, it was awesome! There was loads of us (many fellow Americans) and our tour guides were so fun. We hit 3 out of the 4 places and decided we better head home as it was late and we had a full day of touring to do!

The next morning, Corna and I woke up, headed into the city and grabbed a bite to eat while deciding how we would go about touring Prague. We had originally planned on a walking tour that our hostel suggested, but then we saw an opportunity we just could not pass up.. a Segway Tour of Prague! It didn't take us long to decide that we were just going to have to do it!

The journey was difficult because I have discovered that I am segway inept, and it was also freezing, and our tour guide was terrible. We knew more about Prague than he did, but as always, Corna and I made it an unforgettable experience. To be quite honest, he should have paid us because we were the entertainment. Nevertheless, it was an absolutely AWESOME experience and I do not regret it for one second. We got to see a bunch of awesome parts of the city and didn't have to walk! What more could you ask for as a hungover tourist?

(Yes this is a statue of 2 men urinating)

After the tour, we settled into a little cafe and got an late afternoon, early evening glass of wine and some chocolate cake. It was the perfect pick me up in an adorable little gem of a place.

We headed back to the hostel and got ready for the evening. We had no idea where we wanted to eat... We tried a few places, but just did not quite like the vibe. We finally settled on this cute little restaurant. We had a wonderful dinner and celebrated our last evening in Prague like the queens that we are. We split a bottle of Prosecco and I even had steak! It cost us about 35 euro each. Talk about ballin' on a budget.

We then headed to an Irish bar (figures) and had some interesting conversations with a few people. One was a German woman who got up and danced around to every single song. She even yelled at us a few times because we weren't "shaking our rears" to the music. She was such a free spirit and provided some unforgettable life tips.

We also got to listen to one of the best live bar bands I've heard in a very long time. The guy covered everything from Journey to Bruno Mars. They were incredible! Each song that played was topped by the next.

We started chatting with this group of American guys. They were brothers and one of them had been studying in Prague for the semester. We ended up hanging out with them for the rest of the night and bar hopping. It was so much fun and it was nice to chat with some other Americans so many miles away from home! We grabbed some street car food before Corna and I headed back to our hostel and bid adieu to our pals.

We got back to our hostel and crashed only to realize we had to be up quite early to be out of the hostel. We packed rather quickly and headed to the lounge where we actually took a bit of a cat nap before heading back out into the city.

We grabbed some food and made our way to The John Lennon Wall (the one thing we wanted to see on our segway tour that the guy didn't take us to.) We did a little bit of shopping and took some artsy pics and then headed back to grab our bags.

We headed to the airport and waved goodbye to the gorgeous city that is Praha. Unfortunately, it rained almost the whole time we were there, but it is still such a beautiful place, rain or shine. I can only imagine how amazing the colors must be when the weather is nice! I loved every second of our whirlwind weekend trip. Corna and I sure know how to find the craic wherever we are.

Sending all my love back home,
Paige xx
